Lesson Plan Description

Practice, practice and more practice is the key to laying a solid foundation for understanding geometric concepts. There is so much more to shapes than just naming them! In this 1 hour lesson your students will:

Collaborate with peers to practice the “language” of geometry by using strategic academic sentence frames
Identify attributes of two-dimensional shapes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) by creating a chart of shapes

To check for understanding, an optional assessment component is available for use at the end of the lesson.
