Addition within 10: Games- “Farm Addition,” “Roll and Jump,” and “Unifix Cube Addition”

Skills: Play games and practice math skills at the same time!  In this 1 hour fully scripted Kindergarten lesson for learning addition to 10 your students will play 3 games in order to:

• Practice addition within 10 by counting objects with partners
• Hop on a number line to add numbers together
• Build towers with blocks to demonstrate their understanding of addition and color corresponding boxes

Materials Needed:

• Pencils, 2 different colored crayons/colored pencils
• 2 colors of counters or blocks
• 2 different colored Unifix cubes or cubes (5 one color, 5 of another color for each student)
• Dice and 1 large die if available
• Document camera or whiteboard

Optional:

• small whiteboards and dry erase markers (1 for each student)

• Optional: “Roll and Jump Puddles” (1 copy for the class)
• “Unifix Cube Addition” (1 copy per student and 1 for display)
