Lesson Plan Description
This half day of lesson plans is broken down into 3 separate segments (30-60 minutes each) addressing Measurement & Data: collect/analyze data & Counting & Cardinality: comparing equal groups. Students will enjoy a read aloud of “Apples”, by Amanda Davis, a whole group data collection & analysis, independent data collection & analysis, and game, “Match Me!” to practice comparing numbers and making equal groups.
Segment 1: students will organize and analyze data from their classmates on their favorite kind of apple.
Segment 2: students will create and analyze their own survey about apples.
Segment 3: students will compare numbers by making equal groups playing the game “Match Me!”
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
