Lesson Plan Description
This is a 1 hour Math lesson plan addressing two Math standards using the picture book Chrysanthemum, by Kevin Henkes. Your students will enjoy a read aloud, practice a guided art lesson, count petals they have drawn as well as the letters in their own names. In addition they will compare other students’ names and write the ones that have the same number of letters as they do.
• Students will draw a chrysanthemum flower and write their name above their drawing.
• Students will count the letters in their own names, find other students with the same number of letters in their names, and write the names of other students who have the same number of letters
in their names.
