Lesson Plan Description

This 1 hour “Closer Looking” lesson addresses several reading, speaking and listening standards. The lesson is based around analyzing several photographs containing animals and nature. Your students will practice critical analysis of details, make inferences, and practice classifying details about the photographs. They will also engage in collaborative conversations by posing or responding to specific questions. There is an optional independent exit slip at the end of the lesson to gauge students understanding.

This is linked to the 3rd Grade NGSS LS2.C: Ecosystem Dynamics, Functioning, and Resilience When the environment changes in ways that affect a place’s physical characteristics, temperature, or availability of resources, some organisms survive and reproduce, others move to new locations, yet others move into the transformed environment, and some die.
