Lesson Plan Description
This half day of lesson plans is broken down into 3 separate segments (30-60 minutes each) addressing Numbers in Base-Ten: counting to 120 starting at any number (1.NBT.1). These lessons include: use of a number grid, filling in grids containing missing numbers, counting on number lines, identifying before, between, or after, reading and writing numbers, and 3 games to help students master these concepts.
- Segment 1: students will use a number grid to help them put numbers in order from least to greatest. Work in partners to put numbers in order from least to greatest. Discuss the patterns they see on the number grid. As well as, read and write numbers ranging from 1-120.
- Segment 2: students will use a number grid to fill in missing numbers in a grid. Use a number line to fill in missing numbers from least to greatest. Practice using the words before, between and after when putting numbers in order and continue to read and write numbers ranging from 1-120.
- Segment 3: students will use the words before, between, and after to determine a mystery number on a number line. Subitize or count dots on dice. Count objects, while continuing to practice reading and writing numbers ranging from 1-120.
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
