Lesson Plan Description
This half day of lesson plans is broken down into 3 separate segments (30-60 minutes each) addressing several ELA standards using the fable, “The Crow and the Pitcher”. Your students will enjoy close reading comprehension techniques, creation of a graphic novel, and writing a summary.
Segment 1: students will ask and answer questions to determine the key details that support the who, what, where, when, why and how of a fable.
Segment 2: students will recount the fable using writing and illustrations by creating a graphic novel.
Segment 3: students will determine the lesson(s) of the fable using their graphic novels and key details from the text.
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
