Lesson Plan Description

This bundle contains 3 segment lesson plans (25-60 minutes each) addresses several ELA standards using the picture book Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse, by Kevin Henkes.  Your students will:

  • Segment 1: participate in a shared read aloud in order to distinguish between –at and –it word families and make a t-chart to sort words
  • Segment 2: identify characters in the story and discuss how the character of Lilly changes throughout the story
  • Segment 3: create a connection chart to show about a time when they have felt like the character. They will also participate in a guided art lesson to draw the character, Lilly.

These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
