Your students will use close reading comprehension techniques, and create a book as an analysis of the text (vocabulary, cause and effect, and key details).
- Segment 1: students will analyze and make judgments about photographs of an unknown location.
- Segment 2: students will produce a “book”; which includes: cause and effect, vocabulary, and key details.
- Segment 3: students will analyze a second text source to continue their creation of a book which includes: cause and effect, vocabulary, and key details.
- BONUS- Segment 4: students will create a visual comparison of glaciers and ice cubes and write a Haiku poem that captures the intent of the text.
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
