Lesson Plan Description

Using language strategically and purposefully in math lessons helps solidy our students understanding of abstract concepts. In this bundle of lessons, your 2nd graders will:

Segment 1: collaborate with peers to practice the “language” of measurement by estimating, measuring and comparing objects to the nearest inch using a ruler
Segment 2: demonstrate their understanding of measurement (describing length and comparing objects) by playing the game “Measure Fish” with partners

These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
