Description: Interpreting and explaining the "why" of  the relationship between division fractions can be challenging for our 5th graders.  In this interactive and scripted 2 segment bundle (30-60 minutes each) your students will:

  • Collaborate with peers to practice the "language" of math in strategic and purposeful partnerships and take "math" notes
  • Use models to demonstrate understanding that a fraction is the result of dividing the numerator by the denominator
  • Solve word problems involving the division of whole numbers resulting in proper fractions
  • Draw and use models to represent fractions that are a result of dividing whole objects into smaller pieces
  • Demonstrate their understanding of this skill by playing  "Fractions as Division Pictionary"
  • Complete an exit slip to help you determine instructional next steps
