Lesson Plan Description

Our 5th graders need multiple opportunities to practice, develop and nurture their number sense when it comes to division.  This interactive lesson presents multiple opportunities for your student this 5th graders to work together and explain the “why” of mathematical processes.  They will:

  • Collaborate with peers to practice the “language” of division & attend to precision
  • Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
  • Apply and extend previous understandings of division to divide unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions
