Lesson Plan Description

In this bundle of 3 math lessons, multilingual learners feel supported while discussing mathematical concepts through guided collaborative conversations using sentence frames. Students will:

Segment 1: participate in an interactive read aloud of Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes and sort themselves using different criteria
Segment 2: play a game of “Guess My Sort” with a partner and explain why they sorted their objects in a certain way
Segment 3: create a t-chart and sort/draw purple and non-purple objects

These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
