Lesson Plan Description
This half day of lesson plans is broken down into 3 separate segments (30-60 minutes each) addressing Measurement & Data: sorting by different criteria, counting. Students will enjoy a read aloud of Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse, by Kevin Henkes, interactive sorting activities, play a sorting game, and create a t-chart to sort.
Segment 1: students will sort themselves using different criteria.
Segment 2: students will play a game of “Guess My Sort” with a partner and explain why they sorted their objects in a certain way.
Segment 3: students will create a t-chart and sort/draw purple and non-purple objects.
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
