Lesson Plan Description

Help your 3rd graders gain a better understanding of the distributive property with this comprehensive bundle of lessons.  Use them as an introduction or review!  They will:

  • Segment 1: collaborate with peers, take math notes, practice the “language” of math, decompose multiplication problems including 6, 7, 8, and 9 using the distributive property
  • Segment 2: demonstrate their understanding by playing a game use the distributive property to create large multiplication sentences

These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
