Lesson Plan Description
Third Grade half day of math lesson plans containing 2 separate segments (30-60 minutes each) addressing Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Multiplication Strategies (3.OA.5). These lessons include: key multiplication vocabulary, helpful student notes for reference, guided and independent practice of concepts, and a game to reinforce the concept of the distributive property.
- Segment 1: students will decompose multiplications including 6, 7, 8, and 9 by using the distributive property.
- Segment 2: students will play a game and use the distributive property to create large multiplication sentences.
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
