Lesson Plan Description
This 1 hour math lesson addresses Numbers and Base Ten: Place Value through the Thousandths Place. This lesson is intended to help students to solidify their understanding that the value of a digit to the left is 10 x the value of the place to its right and 1/10 the value of the place to its left. Students will identify place value through the thousandths place using numerical values. Students will also identify how many times more a digit is worth (10x, 100x, etc.) and what fraction less it is worth (1/10, 1/100, 1/1,000). The lesson begins with review and note taking for reference, then moves into partner or independent practice, and concludes with a short exit slip to check for understanding.
