Description: This is a 1 hour, lightly scripted, Second Grade Social Studies lesson. This lesson would also be appropriate for Third Grade students.

Description: This is a 1 hour, lightly scripted, Social Studies lesson was written with third graders in mind, but can definitely work for 2nd graders as well. It answers the Essential Question: What are the functions of a governing society? The focus of this lesson is to explain how groups of people make rules to create responsibilities and protect freedoms.
