Lesson Plan Description

This is a 1 hour, lightly scripted, Fourth or Fifth Grade Social Studies lesson. It answers the Essential Question: What are the basis of a functioning society?

Students will:

  • Learn about sales tax. What are sales taxes? What is their purpose?
  • Calculate sales tax for their own state, and take a look at sale taxes in other states.
  • Addresses the Economics 3-5  subject: Explain the purpose of taxes and how they are integrated into the economy.
