Lesson Plan Description
This is a 1 hour, lightly scripted, Social Studies lesson is geared towards 4th grade or 5th grade students. It answers the Essential Question: What are the functions of a governing society?
Students will
- Learn about the electoral college and the importance of the voting process.
- Be Involved in a simulated voting experience.
The lesson provides the opportunity for a multi-day exercise where students campaign for positions in their classroom.
Addresses the Civics 3-5 subject: Explain how a democracy relies on people’s responsible participation, and draw implications for how individuals should participate.
