Lesson Plan Description
Interactive partner practice helps our 4th graders demonstrate a “true” understanding of the complex process of long division. Use this lesson for review and practice of this complicated skill. Your students will:
- Collaborate with peers to practice the “language” of division and attend to precision
-
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
- Model with mathematics
- Utilize prior division knowledge to practice the traditional algorithm for dividing with one digit divisors
- Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors
- Use strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division
- Practice the algorithm for dividends up to 4 digits in size
- Complete an exit slip to help you determine next instructional steps
