Lesson Plan Description
When students are moving around (with a strategic purpose) and discussing academic math concepts using key vocabulary they will be able to “apply” the learning to new situations. Perfect for multi-lingual learners, this lesson provides multiple opportunities to engage with many of the standards of math practice. They will:
- Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table) and explain them using properties of operations
- Identify, look for and make use of structure by finding mathematical patterns
- Generate their own explanation of the patterns
- Ask questions to check understanding of information presented, stay on topic and link their comments to the remarks of others
- Complete exit slips to provide instructional next steps
