Lesson Plan Description
This half day of lesson plans is broken down into 4 separate segments (30-60 minutes each) based around an informational text, “Kid Apps”. These lessons include: close reading comprehension techniques, identifying key details, determining the meaning of vocabulary, sequencing, text features (titles & headings), summarizing, and an application activity where students can design their own app ideas.
Segment 1: students will take literal interpretation of informational text to evaluation and synthesizing.
Segment 2: students will create a graphic organizer to show the sequence of events for using technology to create kid apps.
Segment 3: students will create and use two headings to write a summary of the informational text.
Segment 4: students will complete a graphic organizer to design a plan for creating their own app.
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
