Lesson Plan Description

Engaging students in reading and developing reading for meaning skills is a foundational goal for 4th graders. In this engaging lesson series, your students will:

  • Segment 1: Ask and answer text evidence questions with the support of strategic sentence frames in order to students will take a literal interpretation of informational text to evaluation and synthesis
  • Segment 2: compare and contrast the lives of Native Americans from the past with Native Americans of present day
  • Segment 3: create headings  in order to write a summary
  • Segment 4: demonstrate understanding of the information with a Bingo review game

These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
