Lesson Plan Description
Do your 3rd graders need a review of how to solve 1 step measurement word problems? If so, this lesson is for you! In this engaging and interactive lesson your students will practice important life skills and purposefully communicate in the “language” of measurement. Your 3rd graders will:
- Attention to precision
- Work in collaborative partnerships
- Speak in complete sentences when appropriate to task and situation in order to provide requested detail or clarification
- Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l)
- Add, subtract, multiply or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem
- Complete exit slips to provide instructional next steps
