Lesson Plan Description
Practice, practice and more practice is the secret to helping our 4th graders demonstrate a “true” understanding of number sense as it relates to fractions and decimals. With multiple opportunities to practice the skill of representing fractions as decimals, your students will:
- Collaborate with peers to practice the “language” of fractions
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
- Model with mathematics
- Practice representing fractions and decimals greater than 1 as an improper fraction with its equivalent mixed number (ie: rewrite 6/10 as 0.6.)
- Complete an exit slip to help you determine next instructional steps
