Description: Building a solid sense of number while working with fractions is a foundational skill for our 4th graders.  Having fun while you do it even better!  In this interactive and scripted bundle of 3 lessons (30-60 minutes each) they will:

  • Collaborate with peers to practice the "language" of fractions and attend to precision
    • Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
  • Practice generating equivalent fractions through multiplication (n x a)/ (n x b) and division (a ÷ n) / (b ÷ n)
  • Demonstrate their understanding of equivalency in fraction amounts by playing a game to generate equivalent fractions using both multiplication and division
  • Complete an exit slip to help you determine next instructional steps
