Lesson Plan Description
Second grade math game addressing Place Value Through the 100s Place. Students will use their knowledge of place value for two and three digit numbers. Students will play Steal the Bacon to demonstrate their understanding. It is optimal to play this game outside or in an indoor area with some space (If playing in a classroom, some desks may need to be moved). Students will be split into two teams, and will be stand on opposite sides facing each other. Each student on a team will be assigned a two-digit number; one person on the opposite team will have the same number. In between the two teams, a chalkboard eraser or something of similar size will be placed – this will be the bacon. The teacher will call out a number, but not directly! He/she will describe it using ones/tens.
