Lesson Plan Description
This half day of lesson plans is broken down into 3 separate segments (30-60 minutes each) addressing Numbers and Operations in Base Ten: Place Value Through the 100s Place. In these lessons students will participate in demonstrations of creating bundles of 10, identify values of digits on a place value chart, and play a mental math place value game.
Segment 1: students will understand that 100 can be thought of as a bundle of 10s called one hundred.
Segment 2: students will understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones.
Segment 3: students will identify two-digit or three-digit numbers correctly based on verbal descriptions using place value terms.
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
