Counting 1:1 with correspondence is a developmental skill.  Use this fun thematic math lesson to help your students practice this skill using their names.  Your students will:

  • Participate in a read aloud of the book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes,
  • Draw a chrysanthemum flower and write their name above their drawing
  • Count the letters in their own names
  • Find other students with the same number of letters in their names
  • Write the names of other students who have the same number of letters in their names
