Lesson Plan Description
Practicing a mathematical skill in more than one way is SO important for all of us! We all learn in different ways and our brains make connections and establish patterns when we practice skills through movement, chanting, drawing and doing. In this bundle of lesson plans is broken down into 3 separate segments (30-60 minutes each) your students will:
- Segment 1: participate in a read aloud of the book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes, draw a chrysanthemum flower and write their name above their drawing
- Segment 2: count the letters in their own names, find other students with the same number of letters in their names, and write the names of other students who have the same number of letters in their names
- Segment 3: create an AB or ABB pattern with partners
These lessons can be taught over the span of a half day or you can use the lessons independently, broken up over several days.
