Lesson Plan Description
Teaching students to infer and analyze can be challenging with the written word. In this “closer looking” lesson based around two photographs containing animals and nature. Your students will:
- Collaborate with partners answering text dependent questions with the support of sentence frames
- Analyze critical details and determine their classifications
- Infer and determine main ideas
- Complete an independent exit slip at the end of the lesson to gauge students understanding
This lesson incorporates 3rd Grade NGSS standards:
- LS2.C: Ecosystem Dynamics, Functioning, and Resilience When the environment changes in ways that affect a place’s physical characteristics, temperature, or availability of resources, some organisms survive and reproduce, others move to new locations, yet others move into the transformed environment, and some die (secondary to 3-LS4-4)
