Lesson Plan Description
Thematic and purposeful learning builds powerful connections for our students. In this integrated literacy and math skill lesson your students will have multiple opportunities to interact with geometric shapes in different ways. They will:
- Participate in an interactive read aloud with a geometric math focus
- Collaborate with peers and practice the “language” of mathematics
- Take “notes” in an interactive math journal
- Distinguish between defining and non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size) of two-dimensional shapes
- Build and draw shapes with defining attributes to create composite shapes
**Purchasing both this 1 hour and the Math Bundle: Geometry Bundle: Attributes of Two-Dimensional Shapes, Defining vs Non-defining Attributes, & Composite Shapes,” will result in duplicated content.
