Lesson Plan Description
Close Reading (multiple reads of complex text) can be challenging to plan, execute and keep exciting for our learners. In this 1 hour lesson using the myth, Narcissus. Your students will use close reading comprehension techniques. Utilizing strategic scaffolding with sentence frames for building vocabulary through collaborative conversations, your students will:
- Participate in a series of engaging close reading lessons with many opportunities to develop vocabulary through oral language practice
- Use context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words
- Focus on determining key details and sequence of events
- Create a graphic novel demonstrating their understanding of main events and sequential order
