Grab this lesson for a quick review and practice with place value. The more opportunities our 4th graders get to explain the value of numbers, the better equipped they will be to apply and transfer this knowledge to more complicated math skills. Your students will:
- Collaborate with peers to practice the “language” of place value and attend to precision
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
- Practice taking strategic notes
- Practice with partners, read and write whole numbers through the hundred-thousands place, and use expanded form and place value to explain the value of digits through the hundred-thousands place
