Lesson Plan Description

Practice, practice and more practice is how we solidify our students understanding of solving word problems. This lesson incorporates strategic partner talk and tape diagrams to help your 2nd graders demonstrate this important and strategic math skill.  They will:

  • Practice solving 2 step addition word problems with unknown variables by identifying key vocabulary, and using drawings and tape diagrams
  • Explain their thinking in collaborative partnerships
